Just under 50% of South Africans are unemployed. As a result of our history and ongoing slow economic development there are large groups of people living in tenuous circumstances. Community resources and living conditions are very poor.
By targeting unemployment and community facilities at the same time we create work and improve local living conditions. By mobilizing people that live in the area to effect the transformation we ensure that the change is owned by the people that live there.
Work builds dignity, working on facilities that benefit the community in which we live has a lasting impact on self respect and it makes the change belong to the community.
