Yanar Mohammed - Director & Founder, Organization of Women’s Freedo

As director of OWFI and editor-in-chief of its newspaper Al-Mousawat (Equality), Ms. Mohammad is internationally recognized as a key spokesperson for the rights of Iraqi women. Despite receiving numerous death threats from armed fundamentalists groups seeking to restrict women’s participation in public life, Ms. Mohammed continues to publicly oppose religious coercion and US occupation.

Vivian Stromberg has worked tirelessly for more than four decades to make human rights and social justice a reality for women and families. Her political organizing, teaching, international human rights advocacy, technical training, fundraising and writing are infused with a passion that has inspired literally thousands of women to stand up for their rights within their families and communities.
