With a population of 15 million, 53% of the population live below the poverty level, which means that almost 8 million people are without basic necessities. Families in Malawi need microloans and microinsurance to advert disaster. Before Opportunity's microinsurance program, farmers and families of Malawi had no safety net, but now, despite droughts and unforeseen circumstances, families will be able to survive the most dire circumstances.
Your donation will help Opporunity maintain its essential banking services including supporting our mobile banks and cell phone banking technology as well as expanding our services to impoverished families across Malawi.
Families can now avoid disaster. Our outreach to loan clients increased significantly, from 4,665 in December 2009 to 7,993 today – a 71% increase. With your help we will expand our services to the most rural areas of Malawi.
