Challenge

Poverty and illiteracy are high in Tekari, Gaya district, Bihar and hit women the hardest. We will set up suitable skill training centers for the women and promote girls' education. The selected skills will have built in income earning opportunities and market linkage creation will be done by the local communities. Education will ensure the sustainability of poverty eradication initiatives.

Solution

We will provide tailoring and computer basics training for 1000 women by running 2 sessions per day for 6 months with 20 women in each session. There will be three centers with ten sewing machines and two computers each.

Long-Term Impact

The economic and social status of the 120 women will improve. They will earn significant income with their acquired skill at the end of the first year. Their self confidence will help them establish market linkages for the products.
