Matilda is one of our proud goat beneficiaries of the ‘improving livelihood of 200 widows affected by HIV/AIDS in Mubende district’ project.
She was visited in late September 2012.SORAK programme staff was happy to learn that Matilda’s goats provided in 2011 had multiplied. She had sold one of them raising $ 60. She used this as startup capital for a deep rural located retail shop. She deals in soap, salt, onions, and yellow bananas among others.
Matilda noted that she can now afford to meet her monthly travel expenses to Mubende Regional referral hospital for both regular reviews and collection of ARVs. The parent goat continues to produce as she earns profit from her retail shop.
Success achieved so far, has attracted more formerly stigmatized women and men to come out seeking similar support from SORAK Development Agency.
It is our prayer that all kind hearted individuals, charities, and philanthropists generously contribute to our project during this coming giving/donation season to enable us support many more widows. This will enable positive living, prolonged and decent life among widows living with HIV/AIDS.
