This project is designed to enhance the academic development of 1000 students in public secondary schools in Edo state Nigeria by providing instructional materials (books) and information required to imbibe reading culture and promote societal development. SYF aims to achieve this through its core programme "Student Guide and Moral Ethics Programme organized in collaboration with the Edo State Ministry of Education.the project will benefit ten (10) public secondary schools across the state.
The death of reading culture is a major drawback on the social and intellectual development of Nigerian youths, this is visible in the high rate of examination malpractice in Nigeria schools and the mass failure recorded in internal and external examinations.Majority of public secondary schools in Edo State, Nigeria exist without libraries while those with library are stocked with ancient and outdated books that are not relevant in day to day activities and educational development of students.
Reading is one of the most fundamental building blocks of learning, The absence of a widespread culture of reading acts as an effective barrier to the educational development of students. We aim to empower secondary school students with necessary tools and information that will strengthen their capacity to take a proactive role in their academics and imbibe reading culture. SYF will organize academic development workshops in 10 public schools and donate "Successful Teens book " to 1000 student.
help 1000 secondary students embrace reading as a way of life, making the young people more aware of the benefits and importance of reading and ensuring that they have the literacy skills required in the modern society.
