Objective of the Intervention
Heads Support (Discussion of action points to work on during May 2013 to August 2013)
Action plans to work on next set of areas of improvement and help the school to sustain these positive changes -
Formulating a master time table for the entire school and teachers
Installation of display boards in the principal's office and Std 1 to 7
Maintaining records and trackers
Instituting student council in the new academic year:
The school has reopened on 22nd May after summer vacation. The time table is being reworked for the new academic session and be finalized by first week of July.
Display boards have been ordered and these would be installed in the classroom by 2nd week of June. In the meantime the teachers would be trained on how to use display boards in the classrooms effectively for improving student learning.
The school has started maintaining the records of notices and memos, staff meeting schedule and its agenda, minutes of meetings, substitution register, extra class records etc..
Student council would be elected and would be set up in the school by 15th June 2013
Teacher Training – Prerana
Me and myself and Me and My students
The objective of the these trainings is to make teachers aware of their own strengths and areas of improvement.
The objective of this module is to help the teachers to use positive verbal and non verbal communication and effective praise in the classrooms
The teachers could do self introspection and could analyze their qualities, areas of improvement. They reflected on their own actions and behaviors which impacted student learning. They came up with few action points which they will start using in their classes in the new academic sessions. Eg:
the teachers will put their effort to use positive communication all the time.
they will take care that their verbal and non verbal communication are effective and positive.
the teachers will create an environment of appreciating each other in the classrooms through appreciation walls.
HeadLamp, the leadership and management programme, is a series of 8 workshops designed to improve school leaders' participation in the teaching, learning and assessment processes, improve systems and processes within the school, support internal monitoring and evaluation and enhance internal reporting and communication.
The school has formulated the school vision.
The vision has been shared with all stakeholders.
The head has delegated the responsibilities to coordinator to monitor teaching learning process in an effective manner.
Democratic approach has been seen during staff meeting.
The head has planned 3 changes for the next quarter which includes installing display boards, keeping a record of all the activities of the school and formulating a master time table.
Feedback shared by the school coordinator Ms Shalini Ramanna:
The school has now a clearly defined vision which will help the head and the teachers to have a clarity about the right path to be followed to achieve the vision.
She found that ground rules and appreciation charts are quite useful to manage the classes in a positive way.
She can observe that teachers are now more positive and sensitive towards the students.
HeadLamp training program has personally helped Shalini to improve her leadership skills which is now evident in the way she interacts with staff in the school and in the staff meetings.
Maintaining the records will help to keep the data retrievable and accessible to all stakeholders

Students feel that the overall cleanliness has been improved in the school.
The interaction between teachers and the students are quite positive now.
Ground rules and appreciation charts help to bring positive discipline in the classes
TTF will work with the school to bring positive changes in learning environment by helping the teachers to use strategies to make classrooms more lively through using display boards and Blackboards more effectively.
Follow up with schools heads through meetings needs to be done, to make sure that time tables and co-planning periods give teachers time to plan their and reflect on their lessons. Also heads will be mentored on how to be proactive at looking inwards into the current teaching learning processes than just the administrative progress of the school.
The forth coming training sessions would help the teachers to improve questioning skills which would help the students to think and answer and not just to recall the facts.
Demo classes by TTF facilitators would help the teachers to relate their learning from the workshop in more effective manner.
