Name of the School: Goodwill English School – Hegganahalli, Peenya

Overview of the School
Goodwill English School situated in Hegganahalli,Peenya was established in 2002-03 and is affiliated to the State board syllabus .The school has grades from Baby Nursery to X th Std.The school's current strength is 415 with a teacher strength of 22.
The school is owned and run by Mr.Padmanabhan M.N(Principal) and Mrs.Malarselvi(Secretary). Only about 30% of the parent population is educated and most of the students come from the surrounding areas.Most of the teachers are graduates and very few are trained teachers(B.ed). The management wishes to bring about a significant change in performance level of students who are academically weak and under achievers.
The school gives a lot of importance to sports and other co-curricular activites and has a large playground for the same purpose.The school envisions to impart education to students from all catses and creeds and inculcate in them a keen sense of responsibility.
Update on the programme for the period September to November 2012
WST team identifies and visits Goodwill School and holds a series of meetings with the school heads to explain the project metrics, intervention and understand the areas of change in the school.
School heads are informed about the project and interact with the WST team.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between The Teacher Foundation and Goodwill School, under which Goodwill School would be undergo the Whole School Transformation project for two years
School heads and TTF arrive at an understanding about the project which will take place over the next two years.
A baseline audit was conducted in the school on 7th and 8th November. The audit is conducted prior to the intervention and helps assess the school's strengths, areas of concerns and needs. The following are the areas that the audit is conducted in.
Teaching, learning and Assessment
The school undergoes the school audit.
Intervention planned in the next four months
December, January and February 2012
The audit report will be presented and a teacher orientation will be held at Goodwill School.
10 workshops on English language enhancement - Classroom Talkies will be held for all teachers.
School heads will undergo School leadership workshops
Audit report is handed over to the school. Areas of need are reviewed and the school prepares an action plan for the next six months.
Teacher's are more ready and motivated to be part of the intervention.
Teachers will be more confident in using English as a transactional language in their classes. Students' own language improves as a result.
School spaces are much cleaner with special emphasis on washroom hygiene. Provision for drinking water is now available for students. School will put together an action plan for the next three months.
2 workshops of strategies for Contemporary classrooms will be held for all teachers
Classes will be more positive spaces with regards to teacher student participation. Instances of corporal punishment reduce to a large extent. Teachers will start planning their lessons using a formatted template.
School based observation and individual feedback for all teachers
Teachers will plan lessons using range of strategies that were part of the workshops.
Student participation increases and is made part of the lesson plans.
Teachers collaboratively work to plan their lessons.
