HCI prevents Malaria among children by education and distribution of nets and medication. We use basketball as a medium to grab the attention of children in schools, orphanages and communities.
Children in Ghana today still face the threath of Malaria on a daily basis. Many of them come from families who do not have the resources to stay free of malaria and do not take the appropriate measures to avoid mosquito bites. While hanging around on the streets during evening times, they are greatly at risk. HCI reaches out to children in their communities as we always do with the game of basketball. Having the kids attention, the Malaria workshops have the maximum effect.
Hoops Care International grabs the attention of less advantaged children with the attractive sport of basketball. The sport teaches them many life skills and motivates them above all. This way, they tend to be more sensitive to our Malaria workshops.
HCI benificaries have evidently shown to do better in the fields we educate them on. Now, in our project tackling Malaria, we trust on our method to save children with a cricitcal risk at Malaria on a long term basis.
