By - Sophie Birkett - Charitable Trust team
Dear donors It is our great pleasure to be able to thank you for your extremely generous support over the last few years and to inform you that thanks to all of your tireless contributions, all families in the village of San Rafael in Honduras now have an energy-efficient stove, and for this reason, we now no longer...

    Making a Difference!
By - Alice Hawkes - Charitable Trust Team
The stove project continues to provide energy-efficient stoves for families in the communities. The children's attendance has to be good for the family to receive a stove, though once they have the stove, the benefits are immediate, with the smoke now funneled through a chimney and up to 75% less firewood used, which...

    Seeing the Difference
By - Aoife Bulman - Charitable Trust Team
The benefits of the stoves we have already built are showing instant dividends, with far fewer complaints of chest infections, as there is no longer indoor-smoke inhalation from the previous brick fires. The fuel efficient stoves we have built have also allowed the families to spend less money on firewood. Fuel efficient...

Energy Efficient Stoves - 5 years on
By - Aoife Bulman - Charitable Trust Team
We have been building energy efficient stoves in Honduras for the past five years. We have recently checked in to see how the stoves and more importantly the families are doing. The health of the families in which we work has improved enormously as energy efficient stoves are virtually smokeless leading to less respiratory...

Amazing Support for the GVI Charitable Trust
By - Alice Burrow - GVI Charitable Trust
We would like to share the most recent trustee report from the GVI Charitable Trust. This report covers the six month period from July to December 2011. This has been by far the most successful period. In six months we have raised nearly as much as we did the whole previous year. This increase in funding has brought a...

    Environmental education
By - Dom Williams - GVI Charitable Trust Manager
In addition to the construction of energy efficient stoves which bring both health and environmental benefits to the communities in which we work, we also incorporate related topics into our educational work with the children. In Honduras we recently observed the Day of the Tree. On this day children left the classroom to...

    Stove efficiency
By - Dom Williams - GVI Latin America Projects Director
We continue to work with Indigenous communities in Central America, many of which have benefited from receiving energy efficient stoves thanks to this project. We have been checking the wood consumption of the stoves we have built so far and it is considerably less than before, as we thought. The situation for poor...

    Reforestation in the communities
By - Dom Williams - GVI Latin America Project Director
The energy efficient stoves provided for families in Latin America carry huge benefits both for the families who receive them and for the environment. Each energy efficient stove uses 75% less firewood than open fires, a huge difference. The new stoves do however continue to use firewood as this is a readily available...

    The stoves remain through Agatha
By - Dom Williams - GVI Latin America Project Director
Hurricane Agatha hit Honduras hard and sadly caused much devastation however the stoves we have built thus far remain in tact. Having this efficient and reliable source for cooking is helping the families who have received stoves so far a great deal during this difficult time. With several more stoves built this year we...

    Stoves saving wood and illness
By - Dom Williams - Director GVI Phoenix
The stoves we have built in family houses over the past few years are showing signs of sustainable progress, with many families using up to 75% less firewood on a daily basis. Also, the children appear not to cough so much and we are seeing fewer burns. With more stoves to be built in the community, and further communities...

    Stoves built despite the coup
By - Dom Williams - Director
Honduras has had its fair share of problems this year, though this hasn't stopped us building a further 11 stoves in the community, helping better health and reducing deforestation. There are still many more stoves to be built, and not just in our community, though the many that scatter the valley...2010 awaits! Happy New...

    Milestones
By - Dom Williams - Director
We have now opened up our stoving projects in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Perú, and are nearing the 500 units mark. Over the next few years, I would like to see this figure over 10,000, and coupled with the 10,000 trees we plant each year, giant strides are being taken to help the environment, as well as...

More stoves built, more trees standing, more clean lungs
By - Dom Williams - GVI Phoenix Director
Training is key with the stoving, and we have spent much of this year training up new local masons in how to build the stoves, so, in the future, the base of the stove project will be increased with great capacity building on the ground. More stoves have also been built this year. cheers Dom

    More stoves, more countries
By - Dom Williams - Director GVI Phoenix
Due to the success of our stove building projects, we have been able to use our education and experience to expand into Nicaragua, Ecuador and Perú! Over half the families in our HOnduras community now have stoves. There are many communities in the area, so all the funding comes in very handy, thanks in advance.

    More stoves built in Honduras
By - Dom Williams - Latin American Project Director
As the year moves into the final third, we have managed to build many stoves in the community around Copán. We have also trained up a local mason to be able to help us build more and bring the project more sustainable. Over the coming year we hope to have all the houses with the new stoves and be able to move into another...

    School stoves
By - Dom Williams - Phoenix Project Director
Global Giving's first stove in the community of San Rafael was built in the school, to allow families to see how it works. All the families in the community, almost 50, are in need of such a stove, and through the course of next year (2008), with Global Giving, we plan to make inroads into this number.

    Stoves on their way
By - Andy Woods-Balalrd - Director of Operations
Building of stoves progresses through GVI’s volunteer program, with each volunteer out there providing the funds to help families with stoves. The monies from GlobalGiving will help provide further stoves to the hundreds of families that have requested them, whilst at the same time providing employment for local...

HappytoHelp My company just donated through our local employees in Peru to help those affected by the earthquake. Our colleagues explained to us first hand how amazing it was to see these people with real stoves. I think this is a fabulous cause and your article reinforces that we're doing the right thing.
