Stoves saving wood and illness

The stoves we have built in family houses over the past few years are showing signs of sustainable progress, with many families using up to 75% less firewood on a daily basis. Also, the children appear not to cough so much and we are seeing fewer burns. With more stoves to be built in the community, and further communities still to receive the stoves, our work is definately cut out over the next few years!!! many thanks

Stoves built despite the coup

Honduras has had its fair share of problems this year, though this hasn't stopped us building a further 11 stoves in the community, helping better health and reducing deforestation. There are still many more stoves to be built, and not just in our community, though the many that scatter the valley...2010 awaits! Happy New Year cheers

Milestones

We have now opened up our stoving projects in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador and PerĂº, and are nearing the 500 units mark. Over the next few years, I would like to see this figure over 10,000, and coupled with the 10,000 trees we plant each year, giant strides are being taken to help the environment, as well as the health of the families for whom we build the stoves.

Training is key with the stoving, and we have spent much of this year training up new local masons in how to build the stoves, so, in the future, the base of the stove project will be increased with great capacity building on the ground. More stoves have also been built this year. cheers Dom

More stoves, more countries

Due to the success of our stove building projects, we have been able to use our education and experience to expand into Nicaragua, Ecuador and PerĂº! Over half the families in our HOnduras community now have stoves. There are many communities in the area, so all the funding comes in very handy, thanks in advance.
