Thank you for supporting our project, A New Home for Sarah’s Circle. Construction is fully underway and we are excited to share that we are on target for our June 2013 move-in date. Our staff makes frequent visits to the new space and building progress is apparent with each visit.
The building looks drastically different from when we began 2 months ago—cement has been poured and walls have been erected. In the above picture, our Executive Director, Kathy Ragnar, stands in the space that will contain our future case management offices. The new building will also house our administrative offices, daytime supportive services as well as ten units of permanent supportive housing for women struggling with chronic homelessness. Kathy recently shared that the supportive housing units have now been framed out.
Sarah’s Circle continues to raise funds for this project. A special area of need is our kitchen. In the initial stages of planning we assumed we would, at the necessary time, simply move our kitchen supplies and appliances from our present space to the new location. However, last November, Sarah’s Circle took on an Interim Housing program and will continue to operate this program in our current space even after the move to a new building. In order to continue to provide over 20,000 meals a year to the 50 women in this IH program we will need to retain the kitchen in our current space. In order to provide meals to the clients outside of the IH program who will seek out daytime services at our new space as well as for the women who will maintain a permanent residence there, we will need a new commercial kitchen for our new building.
Thank you for helping us get this far. We appreciate your continued support!
