Living as a community is very beneficial because people use this chance to assist each other. As no man on earth can stand alone with out depending on other people. This is not the case as most people in Mathare slums tend to be independent. This is drawn on ethnic boundaries people fear over tribes hence people of the same tribe confine themselves together.
It is very strange because the problems and challenges they go through are the same and they should come together to help each other. The churches has always encouraged the people of Mathare to live together as a community distributing even donations becomes very easy but when they are divided like it is in Mathare residents, sharing a big problem amongst them.

While in kitale, sinyereri our church had embarked on a programme that helped both the church and the neighbourhood. After sunday church service, youths could be assembled and then decide on what to do.
It was encouraging that instead of everybody going his/her way after we could come together and choose the person to visit.if he or she was sick he could atleast contribute something and take to the family.this encouraged many of the families and the youths around as they felt that atleast somebody was caring for them.
