Summary

CHI supports child helplines with developing an online counselling system. Children in need of care and protection will chat with counsellors online. 4 helplines globally will be able to participate.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Children are spending an increasing amount of time online. Child helplines will respond to this by having their services available to children online. If the child has a problem, he or she no longer has to call.

How will this project solve this problem?

The pilot phase of this project was in 2008. From 2009 CHI will replicate this project for several other child helplines. 1)Expert training with child helpline management 2)Development of the website 3)Expert training with counsellors

Potential Long Term Impact

Children will have more access to the help given by child helplines and more children will be in reach of these services.

Project Message

Online counseling will be primarily directed at the youth of Aruba, but we can not and will not disappoint youngsters from other countries who approach our organization for help.
- Errol, FTPH child helpline, Aruba, Manager
