Ninety percent of the world’s population has access to only 10% of the world’s health resources. Children born in the Eastern Caribbean region with orthopedic problems have no hope for relief without outside intervention. For example, on a past IHC mission trip, a 12-year-old Vincentian child, Zenel was healed. She was born severely bow-legged and needed surgery in order to walk. She recently had large braces removed from her legs and cried tears of joy to feel the weight of them lifted.
IHC will conduct evaluation clinics and perform surgeries enabling youth to walk. One such youth is Zina, who needs a new hip. She says, “I won’t be in as much pain anymore.” Surgeons will bring donated hip implants to build a new hip for Zina.

This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
This project will provide life-enhancing care for an estimated 130 youth in the Eastern Caribbean region. In addition, it will provide surgical training for local surgeons so the region can become less dependent on foreign aid.
Over the past six years IHC has been able to reach thousands of children with volunteer teams providing surgical and diagnostic screening services through our mission trip program.
