Pitch In For Baseball will provide new and gently used youth baseball and softball equipment to youth leagues devastated by Hurricane Sandy. This donation will allow children impacted by this disaster to return to a state of normalcy and help them enjoy the game they are so passionate about.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
On October 29th, Hurricane Sandy tore through regions of the northeast and devastated multiple communities in the region. We have identified various leagues that need assistance to restart youth baseball for the 2013 season. These are communities where their equipment was literally washed away from the events of that day.
How will this project solve this problem?
Through our communications with league presidents throughout the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut region, we have identified the equipment that each league needs to restart their youth baseball program. These items will be shipped to the northeast region for distribution to the respective leagues well in advance of the start of the 2013 season.
Potential Long Term Impact
Pitch In For Baseball helps children grow physically, socially and emotionally through the game of baseball. In regions where a devastating event has occurred, our donations give kids a chance to "be kids" and return to activities they are familiar with which is crucial to their long-term development.
