Help 500 Rwandan women rebuild their communities

Summary

Through education about health issues, as well as human rights and general education, women in Rwanda will give not only themselves, but their entire community, a chance to strengthen and grow.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Over 10 years ago, Rwanda experienced a genocidal conflict followed by decades of ethnic strife. Since that time, Rwanda has started working to rebuild its economic and social infrastructure. However, the impact from the genocide left a majority of the population struggling for even the most basic necessities. Through education, community participation and health awareness, these women will be able to provide for themselves and their families.

How will this project solve this problem?

Women for Women International have provided malaria prevention training, job skills trainings which include basket weaving, bead work, knitting, tie-dye, tailoring, beekeeping, mushroom-growing, catering, and food processing.

Potential Long Term Impact

Through participation in our program, both as a women and as a community, we are contributing to Rwanda's economic rebuilding. Women are becoming business holders, economic contributers and strong pillars of their community.
