This project partners with rural communities, empowering people infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS, through medical care, social support and skills development.
Children are a particularly vulnerable group with high rates of mother-to-child- transmission as well as the impacts of ill-health and death of parents, with AIDS contributing about 50% to the problem of orphans in South Africa. By 2010, orphans will comprise 9-12% of our total population, which equates to between 3.6 and 4.8 million children. Our beneficiaries are from five rural, impoverished communities in Southern Mpumalanga Province in South Africa.
Monthly food parcels, Vegetable gardens, school fees, uniforms and stationery, post secondary school support, free medical care, psychosocial support, assistance with accessing goverment grants, support groups.
Children who are orphaned by HIV and AIDS, could potentially become street children, or not be looked after as well as they should be. Hopefully we are contributing to building a future generation of well adjusted children who have had opportunities.
