On April 20th, 2013, the earthquake struck the western region of Sichuan Province. After hearing the news, Shanghai United Foundation launched Special Fund of Community Rebuilding immediately and this account has become the fund raising channel of Ya’an post-disaster community rebuilding projects directly.
Until July 31st, 2013, Shanghai United Foundation has raised RMB 670,355.09 for the Special Fund through many methods, such as enterprise direct donation, charity sale event, and personal donation and so on. Among this entire fund, the collected balance is RMB 89,115.09; the receivable donation is RMB 581,240 (This part of donation has signed relevant donation agreement with enterprises and it is estimated that the money will be transferred to our account in August.)
Shanghai United Foundation has collected the charity projects of post-disaster rebuilding from those nonprofit organizations carrying out their services in disaster area. The Special Fund of Community Rebuilding public review meeting is expected to hold in September.
The so-called public review meeting is to invite donor representatives to decide the funding direction. Shanghai United Foundation opens application for the NGOs operating in disaster areas to apply for the funds. This meeting is aimed at building a public, transparent, impartial project-funding platform. From this event the funder, the project owner and the donor can establish a benign interaction pattern for better understanding among each other.
