Help Send a Container of Medical Supplies to Haiti

Dear friends,

Due to changes in clearing customs in Haiti, we are going to suspend this project to help send a container of medical supplies to Haiti.

We have shipped fifteen 40 foot shipping containers to Haiti, and coordinated dozens of other containers and shipments for partners. However, it has become increasingly expensive to clear customs, despite that most of these shipments are directly donated to the Haitian public health system.

We are exploring obtaining clearance for shipments through a grant making agency: if this is successful we will be able to continue to send containers.

In the meantime, you can continue to support our work by donating equipment and supplies or by learning about our new campaign to Make Births Safe in Haiti.

Hi all,

We sent our 15th container of medical supplies from Maine to Haiti this summer. This container included over $400,000 worth of medicines,1,000+ birthing kits, an anesthesia machine, infant incubators, and hundreds of boxes of biomedical equipment and hospital supplies.

We are collecting supplies locally to prepare for sending a container of medical supplies in 2014. Our past funding to assist in paying for containers has disappeared. This is why this campaign is so important- if we can raise the money to send a container, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment, supplies and medicines reach Haiti that otherwise cannot. These supplies go directly to the Justinien University Hospital in Cap- Haitien, the second largest public hospital in Haiti.

You can contact us with any questions, concerns or equipment donations. You can further explore the process for donating equipment and supplies at our website.

We have scheduled a shipping container to leave Portland Maine, Friday, June 28th.  It will be our highest valued container, well over $500,000 worth of medicines, biomedical equipment and 1100 birthing kits. Konbit Sante has decided to spend their own funds to send this container, as these supplies are urgently needed, so we thank any one who has supported or iis intered in this project. This is our 15th shipping container and we have sent dozens of other shipments by air and sea.  We will continue to have our supply chain management initiative at the JUH and we will look for future support and volunteers.

You can contact us for more information about the status of the shipment at or by phone at (207) 347- 6733.
