After studying waste management in Arusha, Mr. Orio was hired to work as the Lushoto Health Officer with primary responsibilities in the local market. Vendors had been selling their produce off of the ground, allowing waste from the surrounding to contaminate the food, leading to high levels of disease. Megan has been working with EVI partners in the Environmental Enterprise Development Initiative since early 2006 and has assisted and facilitated the development and/or management of numerous collaborative projects in Tanzania, including business training, environmental enterprise development, and most recently biomass briquetting throughout East Africa.
