In light of the earthquake, Haitians face dangers of water-borne disease through unclean water and unsanitary conditions that could lead to the loss of thousands of lives.
After the earthquake 1.3 homeless Haitians face problems accessing clean water and knowing how to live in a safe, sanitary way in their challenging situation.
CHF will distribute household water filtration systems to families affected by the earthquake and provide training to those families in how to use the systems and safe, sanitary behaviors that decrease their chances of experiencing sickness.
The long term effects will be a healthy, productive population both after the earthquake but also in the long term. Communities will be less vulnerable to water borne disease.
