Early Arrival: Bonding in the NICU

This booklet, in English and Spanish, describes ways parents of preterm babies can bond with and care for their baby while in the NICU. Your donation puts this resource into the hands of 20 parents.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

One out of every eight babies in the US is born prematurely. Babies spend days, weeks, and even months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This can be a very stressful time for parents. This booklet helps parents build strong relationships with their premature babies which builds a solid social-emotional foundation.

How will this project solve this problem?

By providing free booklets in English and Spanish in take-home hospital gift baskets, at clinics and at pediatrician's offices, we can help parents with preterm babies understand the many ways they can care for and bond with their new child.

Potential Long Term Impact

This booklet will help 20 parents of preterm babies form strong bonds with their new baby in the NICU and when he or she comes home which nurtures the baby’s healthy overall growth and development.
