After months of tests and probes, March 6, 2013 was a special day for Francis as he finally had corrective heart surgery at the Salam Centre for Cardiac Surgery in Khartoum, Sudan. Withstanding the brutal 120 degrees temperature and accompanied by his grandmother and Peter Mbogo Kamau, Executive Director of Take Heart Association Project (THAP), Francis traveled from Kenya to Sudan and was placed in the care of competent doctors who performed the successful surgery. He returned to Kenya on March 30, 2013 and continues his recovery.
Forty-five other children and families received services that included:
Echograms –5, Evaluation – 1, Lab test – 6, Medicine – 13
Review – 9, Accommodation at THAP Family Support Center – 11
Presently, two patients are preparing to go to India for their surgeries.
CAC and THAP offer sincere thanks for your continued patronage in helping us change the lives of many deserving children and families. We continue to build partnerships and increase services to local and surrounding communities.
