"Family planning could bring more benefits to more people at less cost that any other single technology now available to the human race." UNICEF The people we serve are desperate, Kenya has the highest unskilled abortion rate (46%) in the world because of unawareness inaccessible and un-affordable FP services to mitigate unwanted pregnancies. CHAT plans to continue our mission to mitigate extreme suffering by escalating access to family planning (FP) and basic healthcare service
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Poverty! No access to affordable family planning services, which often results in dangerous abortions, infanticide, schoolgirl pregnancies, prostitution, HIV/AIDS, diseases, such as malaria and TB, conditions, such as obstetric fistulas, which place individuals at risk of being ostracized from society. Hostile and harsh terrains where infrastructure is very weak, and a rapidly growing population, lacking resources to sustain the well being of both individuals and ecosystems.
How will this project solve this problem?
CHAT addresses the issues the communities face through the provision integrated door to door mobile services via camel, motor vehicle and foot. Working alongside skilled community health workers (CHW) and the Government uses a grass roots performance based, simple yet effective strategy, which CHAT has honed for over 10 years.
