Special Strides is a non profit organization providing hippotherapy (physical and occupational therapy), adatpitve riding and therapeutic driving to individuals with a mulitude of disabilities. Equine assisted therapy powerfully impacts physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual development, due to the intrinsic qualities of the horse.It is our mission to help change lives one stride at a time regardless of an individual's financial status. Please help us acheive our goal.
Special Strides, located in Central NJ, needs help to enable us to continue to make functional change in the lives of our clients. Currently 70 out of 130 clients receiving equine assisted therapies require financial assistance. They represent a broad spectrum of ages, disablities, and socio-economic backgrounds. Supporting our barn of 16 horses costs over $150,000 yearly. This project will allow Special Strides to continue to support these 70 families and care for 16 amazing therapy horses.
Special Strides is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of all individuals needing therapy and recreation through the movement of the horse regardless of their ability to pay. The financial aid fund at Special Strides needs finanical backing to enable 70 or more of our clients to attend that could not otherwise afford to. It will also support our barn of 16 horses on whom we depend-care, feeding and training,
Sponsoring the care and training of our barn of 16 therapy horses will enable the herd to stay healthy, reducing overall veterinary costs, and to provide optimal therapeutic movement for our clients. Making the financial aid fund sustainable will enable Special Strides to continue its mission to "provide therapy regardless of an individual's financial status". Currently 130 clients receive therapy on a weekly basis. If we grow this number we also need to grow our herd and our financial base.
