Over 2,000,000 unwanted kittens prevented in one day! Home At Last has provided over 250 low cost spay/neuter and vaccinations to our community since May 2013. With your help we can do even more. HAL provided these services with a volunteer veterinarian, the time has come to hire a veterinarian to move this project forward. With YOUR support we can transform this fledgling program into a permanent fixture for our community. We need YOUR help to hire a veterinarian.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
There is an overpopulation of homeless cats and dogs in the world, the country and in our service area. Spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations for dogs and cats can be too expensive for pet owners. This project will prevent MILLIONS of unwanted cats and dogs. Consider this: Just one unaltered female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in only six years. In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can produce an incredible 370,000 kittens.
How will this project solve this problem?
Home At Last currently operates our spay/neuter and vaccination clinics with a volunteer veterinarian. Her commitment to us ends in May 2014. Without hiring a veterinarian we will NO LONGER be able to provide our low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics. In one day we were able to neuter 7 male cats and spay 7 female cats these surgeries prevented 1,813,000 UNWANTED kittens. The continuation of our program will end pet homelessness in our area.
Potential Long Term Impact
HAL will spay/neuter at least 500 animals through this program. While spay/neuter provides a healthier life for dogs and cats is also saves communities money. Communities spend millions of taxpayer dollars each year coping with problems that failure to spay and neuter causes. . YOU can help us make a difference in the lives of animals and in our community.
