CHI wants to give scholarships to 100 Afghan school students. After these students complete school, CHI would like to be able to offer 10 scholarships to students attending universities in Afghanistan, and 2 scholarships to Afghan students studying in the United States.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
There are not enough quality public schools in Afghanistan for all the students who want to attend school, and private schools are often too expensive for many to afford. Once they finish school, university presents another set of funding challenges for students, placing an advanced education out of the reach of many capable students. Even if the university students earn a scholarship, it is often not enough to cover additional expenses such as travel and books.
How will this project solve this problem?
CHI will award scholarships to needy school students which will cover the cost of tuition, books, uniforms and stationary, enabling them to attend a private school. CHI will also award scholarships to students wishing to attend universities in the USA and Afghanistan to help pay for living expenses, books, travel and other expenses the students have related to their studies.
Potential Long Term Impact
This project changes the course of an Afghan student's life. By providing students with the funds necessary to attend school, you are giving them a way to a better life, a life with options, a life without poverty. Also, it is CHI's belief that the way to peace in Afghanistan is through education for all. By helping to provide scholarships to Afghan students, you are helping to build a brighter, more peaceful future for families and the country as a whole.
