CHI is looking to give scholarships to 100 Afghan school students. After these students complete school, CHI would like to be able to offer 10 scholarships to students attending universities in Afghanistan, and two scholarships to Afghan students studying in the United States.
There are not enough quality public schools in Afghanistan for all the students who would like to go to school to be able to do so, and private schools are often too expensive for the students to afford. Once they complete school, university presents a whole new set of funding challenges to students, placing an advanced education out of the reach of those wishing to seek it. Even if the university students earn a scholarship, it is often not enough to cover expenses such as travel and books
CHI will award scholarships to needy school students which will cover the cost of tuition, books, uniforms and stationary, enabling them to attend a private school. CHI will also award scholarships to students wishing to attend universities in the US and Afghanistan to help pay for living expenses, books, travel and other expenses the students run into related to their studies.
This project has the potential to change the course of an Afghan student's life. By providing students with the funds necessary to attend school, you are giving the student a way to a better life, a life with options, a life without poverty. Also, it is CHI's belief that the way to peace in Afghanistan is through education. By helping to provide scholarships to Afghan students, you are helping to build a brighter, more peaceful future for Afghanistan.
