4th-6th September 2013, Sports for social change Network organized a Transformation and Development through Sports (TADS) conference in Pretoria, South Africa. The conference brought together 50 German and Africa organizations that use sports for social change. The idea of the initiative “Commitment for Africa” – launched by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in 2012 – is to link civil society organizations from Germany and African countries engaged in the field of sport for social change and to foster civic engagement. The outcome of this matchmaking process was to have African-German exchange and partnership initiatives that contribute to social change. VAP being one of the invited organizations, managed to form partnership with various German and African organizations. The subject of all African-German partnership projects in the context of “Commitment for Africa” shall be a contribution to positive social change / strengthening civil society through sport.
