100% of donations received by Victory Foundation Programme for this project goes to the center to provide food, clothing, shelter, education and medical care to more than 500 orphans of Koguma. Victory trains them on how to raise their own chickens, goats, pigs or sheep to orphan families, as well as to become self-sufficient as they sell goat meat hence allowing them to become self-reliable and sustainable.
The impact of HIV/AIDS, low literacy levels, little information on reproductive health and abject rural poverty has created an orphan population of more than 3,000 in Koguma Village,Homa Bay County in Kenya. Such illiterate young orphans pour into street life or get cared for by poor old grandmothers in a cyclic life characterized by begging, carrying luggage, cleaning business premises and vehicles, collecting garbage, loading and unloading market goods and other forms of child abuse.
Since goats breed after just few years, purchasing of building materials, hiring of construction labour, hiring of farm laborers, fencing of the farm, construction of sheds, watering pans, feeding troughs, resting sites and milking places, purchase of milk goats and milk storage equipment will increase production of goat products (milk and meat) which will be sold locally hence source of income to support and save the orphans of Koguma. .
Provide proper nutritional support, medical care, education, dairy goats and knowledge of living skills to more than 500 orphans majority of whom are on HIV treatment thereby contributing to their good health and longer productive life.
