New School!

It's happening all thanks to YOU!

YOU have done it!

After so many years of supporting the students of Nyaka YOU have helped us reach a point where we've  broken ground on a Nyaka Secondary and Vocational Training School.

Your unwavering support has ensured that all of our Nyaka and Kutamba Primary school students have graduated! As a result the need for building a secondary school now is greater than ever.

True to the holistic model YOU have invested and believed in over the past twelve years, the school will combine both traditional subjects together and special vocational technical subjects like tailoring and up and coming agricultural practices.

The school will be free for our graduates to attend...this is a very progressive concept in Uganda.

Attatched you will find a letter from our executive director, Jackson...enjoy!

Meet Hilary, future NEUROSURGEON

Kelly in Uganda
Kelly in Uganda

Dear Nyaka friends and family,

It’s such a joy to report to you fresh from Uganda! Last month, I spent time on the ground connecting with our grannies and students! Day after day, I was humbled by all the work YOU make possible.

While there, I had the tremendous pleasure of meeting Hilary, one of our pioneer secondary school students. He was one of the first students YOU helped support and was in the first graduating class in 2007.

I knew that Hilary wanted to be a doctor from his many thank you letters he has written to donors in the United States.  At The Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project we offer a child a free education from the moment they are enrolled as long as they continue to perform well in school.  We believe this creates buy-in.

And it is working! Hilary is one example of over 650 students who are working so hard to pass their exams every day.

YOU, dear donors, have made this all happen!

Without YOUR support, Hilary might have been working towards a very different dream. Instead, I learned that Hilary had just finished volunteering on his school break, working at the guest house, and is studying hard so that he can become a NEUROSURGEON.

YOUR generous support makes these kind of success stories happen each and every day at Nyaka and Kutamba Primary Schools.

And we thank YOU!

Consider giving a gift today and help us continue the work of empowering Nyaka’s youth!

Cool Stuff We are Doing!

This past month YOU did something amazing.

This past month YOU created a beautiful new Library and Computer Lab at the Kutamba school!

The work was completed on the 18th of June.

This facility will help several hundreds of students in providing them with a better education.

This facility is also environmentally friendly and is equipped with solar panels.

The children are very excited about this new facility and thank YOU for your efforts in making their dreams a reality!

And YOU didn’t stop there!  This past month ground was broken on a new secondary school for the kids.

The proposed campus looks like this:

Get Set. GO!

Allan during his computer training.
Allan during his computer training.

You are on the starting line.

The Race to 1k begins NOW!

It is BONUS Day and from now until midnight Global Giving will be matching $.50 of every dollar donated.

There is also a $1,000 prize given to the organization that has the most new donors.

Your favorite Nyaka & Kutamba students need you to help them win this virtual relay.

  • Start with a gift of $10.
  • Share your generosity on Facebook, Twitter or via email with 5 friends or family members.
  • Inspire them to give $10 too.

Pass the baton in this relay and you could support the education of 4 primary students just like Allan.

Allan could have been easily overlooked.

He is a child with a severe neurological disorder living in rural Uganda without access to medical attention or social services.

Allan's ability to live a productive life was a long shot at best.

Until he met YOU.

You have funded Allan's education through primary school and helped fund an important surgery restoring some mobility in his arms and legs.

You also purchased a wheelchair for him so that he would no longer have to crawl on the ground to get around.

Today, because of your investments, international volunteers are teaching Allan computer skills.

Due to Allan's disability, his ability to attend secondary school with his peers is impossible. The closest facility that can meet his special needs is in Kampala - a ten hour drive away from his family, friends and village.

Thanks to you, we are able to keep Allan surrounded by the community that he loves while helping him reach his highest potential.

You are setting Allan up for success!

Thank YOU!

Today you have the opportunity to introduce 5 of your friends and family to the remarkable, life saving work you are doing for more than 600 children living in rural Uganda.

You have the opportunity to pass the baton and win the Race to 1k.
