Since the last reporting, we have not had much on Mukinyai side but we are happy to report that our beneficiary students are proceeding on well in their studies and soon they will breaking for August holiday and we are in the process of organizing a meeting with them together with other school leavers in the area and those who joined polytechnics. We have realized these meetings/workshops are very essential and we have realized positive results. We are encouraging the youths to join groups to enable them benefit from the many opportunities provided by the government and other stakeholders. We now have some of them already in groups and we are happy they are now busy working in their respective groups and tapping the available opportunities in their different localities. We are happy we are still making progress even with the various challenges thank you all for your support and encouragement.

As reported in January, we had planned to support the most vulnerable pupils from Mukinyai who passed their final exams. We are happy to report that we managed to support 5 pupils from the most vulnerable households to join secondary schools. Three of them joined day schools in the area where two of them were lucky to join boarding schools. They have been at home for the April holiday and they reported that they are progressing on well. We are in the process of organizing paying school fees for the next term. We also managed to get others supported by the government through bursaries and we will continue pushing the responsible team to continue supporting them even in the other school terms. We organized a youth seminar with all school leavers in the area where we encouraged them to consider joining youth polytechnics which are cheaper and they will learn different technical skills. Some of them have already joined youth polytechnics and we are happy that our concerns were taken positively by students and their parents and guardians. We will continue encouraging them also to consider joining youth groups to enable them get further support from the government through youth funds and other opportunities provided by different players. We are happy that we are still making progress towards this though at slower pace, thank you all those who have been supporting this project.

In Mukinyai, we did not manage to fundraise much towards supporting pupils who passed last year’s exams to continue with secondary education but at least we will support few of them who are most vulnerable. Some of them who scored above 350/500 marks were lucky to get sponsorships from Equity Bank of Kenya as they have done before. We have encouraged the others to seek government support and those who did not secure vacant in secondary schools we are encouraging them to consider joining youth polytechnic which are less expensive and they offer technical skills. We will continue fundraising in order to sustain those who will join secondary schools as well as consider others who are much vulnerable. We thank our partners and well wishers for their generous support this far.

In Mukinyai we have not done much in the previous period but we are hoping to continue raising funds for the project. We have been informed that some of the orphans beneficiaries were candidates this year and they did their final primary examination last week and their guardians had requested the school to help them get sponsors for these pupils to enable them continue with secondary education next year. We are not in a position of promising them anything at the moment but we have suggested to them to approach Equity Bank of Kenya which normally provides scholarships to the needy students those who score 350/500 marks in the final exams. We hope they will sponsor some of these pupils. We are still considering supporting the rest but this will only depend on the results of our fundraising.
We have been conducting monitoring and evaluation for the chicken and rabbits project and we are happy to report that the progress is good. Some of the families have really achieved on this and they have been able to provide the most basic needs for the children. We are happy that this has resulted to improved livelihoods. We will continue fundraising for this project and we believe we will support more needy families. We thank all our partners and well-wishers.

We are proceeding on well with this project although it seems challenges are increasing instead of decreasing but we are optimistic we will overcome them. We have managed to support a former Mukinyai student who is now in form one with new school uniforms and text books. She is progressing on well and we have even received her school progress report which is impressing and we hope she will continue improving. We have also supported 5 most vulnerable households with rabbits and chicken and we believe this initiative will result to an improved income generating activity for these needy families and they will improve their living standard and especially for the school going children i.e. provide them with the most basic needs. We thank all the well wishers who have enabled us move this far despite the many challenges.
