Dr. Laurie Marker, DPhil - Founder and Executive Director
Having worked with cheetahs since 1974, Laurie set up CCF in 1990, moving to Namibia to develop a permanent research centre for the wild cheetah. Laurie first came to Namibia in 1977 when she brought a captive-born, hand-raised cheetah to Namibia to determine if a cheetah must be taught to hunt or if the process was fully instinctual. CCF is renowned for its approaches to species conservation.
Gail Potgieter - Livestock Guarding Dog Programme and Human Wildlife Conflict Co-ordinator
Gail currently runs the CCF guarding dog programme, whilst doing her MSc on the dogs in the programme through Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. She also assists farmers in dealing with cheetah conflict situations on their land. In addition, she is helping to habituate the most recent group of cheetah orphans at CCF.
