Summary
We are helping children, mainly girls, to get off the street by placing them in families through our foster parent program. We use media to publicize our activities and needs. Girls play sports too.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Our project has 200 beneficiaries who are children and girls mainly. The project beneficiaries have several needs including: food, accomodation, medication, education, training on income generating activities for them to be independent especially those of 14-17 years of age. They need access to legal services in cases of sexual abuse. These children are based in Rwanda in Kigali city.
How will this project solve this problem?
The project trains and educated children in Rwanda. The project has helped 100 children, mainly girls, of 10-13 to go to primary school, while other 100 of 14-17 years of age are in catch up classes on a part time basis.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project will help beneficiaries to have access to education, medication, food and clothes. Girls will be trained about their reproductive health and HIV/AIDS awareness which reduces the number of other street children being born.
Project Message
Due to 1994 Genocide many parents were killed and their children were left with no homes no care, no love and no affection from any one . HIV/AIDS has also increased a number of orphans in Rwanda.
