TAFCOM currently operates a children's centre in the Pasua neighbourhood of Moshi, Tanzania which provides nursery school education as well as informal learning and support to destitute and orphaned children within Pasua. TAFCOM covers the cost of school fees for the children who attend the school. The current facilities are inadequate, and the aim of this project is to build a centre that drives community development through education.
In Tanzania children who are unable to attend nursery school miss the opportunity of mainstream education. In Pasua, the poverty level is high and HIV/AIDS is widespread. As a result, there are many orphaned and destitute children. Due to prohibitive costs, these children miss educational opportunities and also the chance to work their way out of poverty to create a brighter future for themselves and their community. The existing infrastructure is uninhabitable and makes learning difficult.
In this project TAFCOM proposes to build a proper classroom equipped with desks, table and chairs this will guarantee a higher literacy rate and best quality education to children and will result to higher performance standards that will lay a good foundation to the journey of breaking the vicious cycle of poverty to the Pasua children and the community.
The project will facilitate and improve the learning condition of more than 500 children and help them improve their standards, rise out of poverty, realize their purpose and give back to their community in the future.
