Season's Greetings.
With the back-to-school season well behind us, our volunteer-run organization continues to work to fill the needs of local school children and youth. For the second year in a row, Oregon officials reported that more than 20,000 students in Oregon don't have permanent homes and 24 percent of children are at the poverty level. Many of Oregon's families simply cannot afford backpacks and school supplies for their children.
This year, with your help, Global Backpack Project provided more than 750 children and youth with backpacks and school supplies.
We can still do more for kids! We have set a goal to deliver sturdy new backpacks to homeless teens for the holiday season. We are partnering with New Avenues for Youth, a great local organization offering programs and services that empower Portland's homeless youth to exit street life.
We need your help! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our project today. Together we can help a student feel prepared for school. Together, we can show a child someone cares.
Thank you for making a difference in our community.
We wish you a safe and happy holiday season!
