Global Backpack Project Latest Activities in Portland

Portland Children Receive Nike Backpacks and Soccer Balls

The girls and boys of the Rose School Head Start Program in Portland were the happy recipients of brand new Nike backpacks, soccer balls and school supplies in February.  Our entire Board of Directors took part in the delivery and enjoyed meeting the amazing children, teachers and administrators of the Rose School in Multnomah Village.  We send our sincere gratitude to Terri Wells and the Talent Team at Nike for supporting the education of local children with this donation of 80 backpacks, school supplies and soccer balls to Global Backpack Project.

GBP's Newest Local Partner - NAYA (Native American Youth and Family Center)

We are pleased to announce GBP will be supporting the important work of NAYA by providing them with backpacks and school supplies.  We are eagerly awaiting our first delivery later this month.  The Native American Youth and Family Center works to enrich the lives of Native youth and families through education, community involvement, and culturally specific programming. It has provided educational services, cultural arts programming, and direct support to reduce poverty to the Portland metropolitan area's American Indian and Alaska Native community for over 30 years.

Many thanks to you all for supporting Global Backpack Project through GlobalGiving.  Your donations allow us to support the education of girls and boys right here in our own Portland neighborhoods.

GBP's main goal in Portland is to partner with local organizations to help local children succeed in school by providing them with the tools they need to reach their full potential.  We focus on serving homeless youth and families as well as vulnerable and at-risk youth.  We are proud to partner with Neighborhood House, Portland Homeless Family Solutions, New Avenues for Youth, and Native American Youth and Family Center
