Following the massive flooding in Pakistan in the summer of 2011, SHINE Humanity and it’s affiliate CDRS  have helped at least 8775  survivors of the  flooding in the southern province of Sindh with funding from Global Giving, individuals  and institutional donations.

As mentioned in the previous report Mobile medical teams were deployed on October 1st  to some of the most remote areas in Sindh that had been badly affected by the floods.

In October  two medical camps were set up in the districts of Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan,Hyderabad, Badin, Jamshoro, Mirpur Khas, Sangar, Umar Kot and provided care to 5325 patients. While 3450 patients were treated in camps set up in Tando Allahyar, Kipro and Mirpur Khaas in November.

Free medicines were provided by the doctors  for chest infections, diarrhea, skin diseases , malaria and urinary tract infections besides other acute and chronic conditions.  Care was also provided for Dental conditions and for pregnant women. Besides free medicines and food,  baby milk formula was supplied  to 600 infants under a  Nutrition Program  and water purifying tablets were provided for making the water safe to drink.

The beneficiaries, especially those in the most remote areas  were very grateful for the supplies, medicines and care they were being provided at the temporary camps, as was expressed by them to our staff.

We, in turn, would like to thank all our supporters for enabling us provide the help where it is needed most.
