Salt worker community is one of the most disadvantaged communities in the country. (The Bay of Bengal Report of Govt.of India accepts that “salt workers are poorest of the poor in India”.. They live in extreme poverty situation because they are voiceless, powerless and resource poor. They work in saltpans of very hot sunlight, no prper road, no street lights, no water or sanitation facility.
Skill training and other support for socio economic development, collectivization and advocacy for leveraging state and other resources, activities to improve working and living condition together will solve the problem
The salt worker community collectively could have become powerful and leveraged state resources, enhanced their capacity, significantly increased their household income and working and living condition developed.
