Thelma was born in the Chipinge District of Zimbabwe, Africa. She moved to the United States to attend Lake Erie College in Ohio where she majored in Mathematics and minored in English. She earned a Master's Degree in computer science from the University of Mass in Lowell. She founded the Tekeshe Foundation to continue her parents' vision of empowering the young people of Chipinge
