This project will save the life of 70 Cameroonian motherless orphans and vulnerable children by providing them healthcare and balanced food. Those orphans and vulnerable children aged from 0 to 2,5 years, are from villages where no attention is given to them after the dead of their mother at childbirth or shortly after childbirth because left parents can not support them due to poverty. This lack of care exposes the new born babies to many sickness with sudden death as consequences.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In Cameroon, 699/100,000 women die at childbirth or shortly after and 79/716 children less than 1 year. Most of those women die at childbirth or shortly after childbirth because they don't attend health center for antenatal consultations. For the children, infectious diseases and malnutrition are the main causes. The actual problem to solve is to save life of 70 orphans from villages by providing healthcare and food, senzitizing pregnant women so as to limit the risk of death at childbirth.
How will this project solve this problem?
With this project, healthcare and food for 70 orphans and vulnerable children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and who have lost their mother at childbirth or shortly after will be provided. The other aspect of this project will consist on sensitizing at least 5,000 household's women in the villages of Kaele Division on the importance of antenatal consultations in order to limit the risks of maternal mortality and the number of orphans in the villages.
Potential Long Term Impact
A part of saving life, this project will make those orphans future leaders in the society. 5,000 women will know by senzitization the importance of antenatal consultations and at least 3,000 pregnant women from villages will be attending health center for antenatal consultations, the risks of HIV/AIDS transmission from mother to babies will lower, the rate of maternal mortality at childbirth or shortly after childbirth will decrease, the number of orphans will decrease in the villages.
