Summary
By providing hearing aids and therapy, our project will empower 118 children who are deaf and give them the opportunity to get an education and to learn to communicate for a lifetime of independence.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
600 million people in the world have a hearing impairment. 2/3 of them are living in developing countries. Access to a hearing aid, batteries and therapy is unaffordable and/or inaccessible in countries such as DR Congo.
How will this project solve this problem?
Our project with a team of professional volunteers will help on a direct basis 118 children, doctors, nurses and therapists & indirectly parents, teachers and secondary health care workers. We will leave a sustainable hearing health program in place.
Potential Long Term Impact
Through education & health one can break the cycle of poverty. A hearing aid gives the opportunity to an education which builds self confidence & gives the child a reason to stay healthy. The impact will have a domino effect on the community & state.
