Healing Innocent Victims of War: Afghan Children

Innocent Victims

Innocent Victims
Farida and her sister lost 3 siblings in the rocket attack that destroyed her eye and left her small body riddled with damage. Millitary personnel recommended the sisters to Solace for the Children for the multiple surgeries it will take to begin the healing process for their family.

Still Smiling

Still Smiling
The strength and resilence of the Afghan children shows in the face of Saidgul whose leg was blown away by an IED.

An Old Woman in a Little Girl's Body

An Old Woman in a Little Girl's Body
Very badly burned as a toddler, Feroza is the only female in her family and therefore responsible for all household related chores. This regardless of the debilitating burn scars overcoming her arm and neck. When she returns to her family, she will have full function and restored honor within her society.

Boys Working to Support Family

Boys Working to Support Family
Sher Jahn was born with both feet badly deformed. Nevertheless, he and his deaf brother are responsible for the support of the family. They pull this wagon to key locations onlong the road and sell small items to travelers. Solace is working to bring Sher Jahn into an American Solace Community to repair his feet.

Giving Back

Giving Back
Solace Summer Groups participate in service projects to help say thank you and to recognize the need to help others in every corner of the world. Amina is sorting and stacking cans in a local food pantry for the needy in her Solace Community.

The Music of Life

The Music of Life
All her young life, Spugmai suffered from chronic ear infections with no medication available to her family. The toll it took was her hearing. Surgeries provided by caring surgeons restored her hearing and now she not only sees the flowers, she can hear the bees buzzing around them!

Peace Keeping Activities

Peace Keeping Activities
Healing the body is very important, yet so is building relationships and fostering understanding. Solace children experience both. Here you see the deep concentration of a fun team building or "Peace Keeping" activity.

International Sisters and Brothers

International Sisters and Brothers
Heart patient, Fakheria finds the love of her host brother and sister an amazing support as she recovers from open heart surgery... one of the first provided for an Afghan child. The life changing impact on her host siblings is incredible to witness as well. What a powerful lesson of love and support Solace for the Children offers all children!

Taking Care of the Dental Work

Taking Care of the Dental Work
No matter the medical need, most of the Afghan children benefit tremendously from dental treatment. Solace is grateful to the selfless professionals who quietly partner with us to provide complete health for children that may not have any other opportunity for a healthy smile.
