To provide Cholera Treatment Centre for the emergency treatment and implement Cholera prevention program through community education. We work in concert with other key health charities in North Haiti.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
UN had reported that Cholera could affect 650,000 people in Haiti over the next six months, and believed the number of deaths could be twice as high as the official figure of 1,800. While the death rate had decreased, it remained unacceptably high at 3.6%. Only 20% of the $164m the UN had appealed for had been funded so far.
How will this project solve this problem?
Recruit nurses, mobilise sanitation facilities, implement a strong health and hygiene promotion campaign by training church and community leaders and health promoters, and support an infection control campaign by supplying community health team.
Potential Long Term Impact
This massive treatment and prevention program will educate well over 500,000 people in the North of Haiti and will prevent the deaths and the spread of cholera across the country. It will bring Haitian people hope to life.
