Help families in Guatemala affected by mudslides and flooding caused by the eruption of the Pacaya Volcano and Tropical Storm Agatha. Food, bedding, and building materials are needed urgently.
Serious damage and some deaths occurred as a result of Tropical Storm Agatha. The storm hit right after a volcanic eruption and the death toll from the two events is in the hundreds. Landslides and flooding caused bridges, roads, and homes to be destroyed. Tens of thousands more people have been displaced from their homes and remain without enough food or water. Severe food shortages are expected to worsen in the coming months.
During this critical time, IDEX’s local partners in Guatemala are well positioned to support hundreds of indigenous families in need of immediate assistance with food and basic supplies to rebuild their homes and their lives.
This project will enable families to overcome the initial loss of their home by providing food and shelter. This will better equip them to rebuild and reconstruct their lives and communities.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
