Growing Baseball for Children in Pakistan

For two years, Pitch In For Baseball has been working with the Pakistan Federation Baseball in the hopes of securing the funding to send baseball equipment to children in Pakistan.  In a country where cricket dominates, baseball is slowly increasing in popularity with children, men, and women yet the necessary equipment is not available.  While we have not yet raised all of the funds needed to support this project on a meaningful scale, we have started dialogue with a Pakistani foundation that runs a Sports for All program in partnership with local schools.  We are exploring a partnership and program whereby we would provide equipment to schools with a strong measurement componenent.  It is our intention that we would also send equipment to the Pakistan Federation Baseball to grow their youth baseball programs.  All funds generated through Global Giving to date will be earmarked to support the equipment and its delivery to these groups.

While we are closing this project on Global Giving, we will continue to update donors on our progress.  We are determined to get equipment to Pakistani children.  Thank you for your support.

Baseball was introduced in Pakistan in 1992.  Cricket is still the country's dominant sport, yet baseball is growing in popularity amongst children.  However, baseball equipment is not available for purchase in Pakistan and it is expensive to ship there.  Pitch In For Baseball and Pakistan would like to partner to get the necessary equipment to children interested in playing.

To date, we have raised nearly $200 for the project.  In addition, we are working with and exploring delivery opportunities with IBAF (International Baseball Federation), a long-time PIFB partner.  We are optimistic that we will be able to deliver equipment to Pakistan this year. We look forward to the opportunity to assist in their growth efforts.

Thank you for your support and we will continue to update you on our progress.

Thank you for your support and interest in this project.  So far, we've raised almost $200 for our project in Pakistan, but still have a long way to go until we can begin shipping baseball equipment. Baseball continues to grow in popularity with teams representing Pakistan having great success in IBAF tournaments.

In July 2013, the Pakistan baseball team was one of 16 teams that participated in IBAF 12U Baseball Word Cup in Taipei City in China. In November, Pakistan hosted the 11th West Asia Baseball Cup.  The interest is there and country is beginning to truly embrace baseball but financial limitations and lack of equipment have slowed the game's expansion.

We look forward to the opportunity to assist in their growth efforts.
