Project Personnel
Matthew Paneitz - Executive Director and Founder
After two years in the Peace Corps, Matt returned to the United States to begin raising money for a new development project inspired by the need he saw in Comalapa. He founded Long Way Home in the Fall of 2004, and returned to Comalapa in January 2005 to launch Parque ChimiyĆ” , the new organization's first project. Hailing from Lufkin, TX, Matt has a degree in Emergency Medical Services.
Adam Howland - Construction Manager
Adam is from Upstate New York, where he received a degree in Construction in 2000. He joined the Peace Corps in 2002 and led construction projects in a rural Guatemalan village building stoves, latrines, and water tanks. Adam was an original Long Way Home volunteer. He plays a crucial role as designer and builder in all LWH projects. Adam is credited with introducing the first recycled materials.
Aaron Colvin - Full-Time Staff
Aaron is from Bend, Oregon and has a B.A. in International Studies from Southern Oregon University. He first volunteered with Long Way Home in 2005, and has worked with us on and off ever since. He is second in command on-site, and has also taken part in fund-raising and volunteer recruiting efforts.
