"Green meals" help 170 kids in Uganda study
a class room
65% of our children come from single parent families, often mothers or grandmothers. almost half of our kids are girls.
the present kitchen
Kitchen is a big word for this shack but still over 170 meals are cooked here every day! we would like to see that changed into a simple but more hygienic one
cooking 'posho'
Posho, a stiff maize porridge and beans are the staple food in most schools. This kitchen is not a nice place to work for the staff since it is filled with smoke. The new kitchen will have a chimney.
washing hands before eating
Hygiene is important. washing hands with soap before meals and after using the toilet reduces cases of diarrhoea and other intestinal diseases enormously
sharing a meal
visit to the farm
agriculture is one of the subjects and children do come to the training farm regularly. Even the small ones enjoy feeding the goats
Dutch volunteers helping train teachers
Experienced teachers are welcome to come and work with the teaching staff for a month or longer.
