Abigail Wu joined the 16 million children in the United States living below the poverty line when her single mom unexpectedly lost her job. Abigail is one of many children in the US, including those stricken by the floods in Colorado, without the chance for a good beginning. This fall, your contribution will deliver a back-pack, stuffed animal, or other gift to a child, like Abigail, in your home town and jumpstart thousands of Good Beginnings like hers towards a promising future.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Twenty-three percent of children in the United States live below the poverty line- that's 16 million kids who do not have basic necessities. When natural disasters, such as the floods in Colorado, strike a certain community, the people who are most devastated are families with young children. Many organizations seek to solve the problem on their own, but there's no collective effort to distribute goods to local communities across the United States.
How will this project solve this problem?
Good360 currently serves 169,288 households recovering from disaster every year, delivering $67.7M worth of critical product. Our corporate partners have already donated the goods for FREE, but we need your help to get it to the neediest children. We have 37,000 Good360 programs set up in 50 states. For every $10 donation, we will distribute $300 of new products to impoverished children in your community. This fall, help us reach our goal of helping 25,000 children.
Potential Long Term Impact
This project seeks to give $5 million of products to children in need across local areas in the US, especially in disaster stricken areas like Colorado. Reaching this goal means that about 25,000 gifts will be distributed with the help of your donation to cover logistical costs. Giving a child basic goods helps them keep warm in the winter, continue in school, and access the resources they need to grow into productive adults who contribute to sustainable communities in the long run.
