Opportunity's Millionth Savings Clients: Faith and Frank Rubanda of Mubende, Uganda
Your support empowers inspiring entrepreneurs like Faith and Frank, who dreamed of owning a tailor business. They had the skills and work ethic, but lacked capital. The husband-wife team lived on the profits of a small dairy business and managed their finances resourcefully, but with seven children saving was impossible. The dream was outof reach.
Then Frank and Faith became Opportunity's one millionth savings client and their dreams began to come true.
With your help, Opportunity Uganda opened a branch in rural Mubende, bringing the couple closer to their dream. With a loan, training and significant support, Faith and Frank are now the town’s only designers of custom, hand-crafted suits. The couple’s success gave them the confidence and capital to expand from one sewing machine to employing seven people from the community. They are now seeking to open additional storefronts. “Opportunity bank came to Mubende by way of a miracle,” says Frank. “We were pleased to be the first to open a savings account.”
As a mother, wife and business partner, Faith, too, is enjoying a new feeling of optimism. “When the tailor shop first opened, I struggled to address customers,” she says. “Now I have the confidence to raise my head and look at them when I make transactions.” Previously, the cost of school uniforms had been a barrier for the family. Today all seven children are in school, and their proud mother is forming a plan to send them to a private school. Frank enjoys having his wife for his business partner; he looks at his wife with respect.
